Script Notes – Episode 3

script-notesDistraction. Tangents. False starts. The bane of so many game nights.

So what was true about Episode 3?

Well nothing, actually.

Sort of.

While the specific events in episode 3 never actually happened, they certainly have occurred in one form or another to pretty much every gaming group out there. I can remember several sessions where very little gaming was done, with our group instead talking about anything but the game at hand.

Sometimes, these nights are necessary. Gamers lead busy lives, and can have lots going on in their day. While gaming isn’t and should never be work, it can require a certain amount of focus. Every now and again a gamer may simply not be up to the task. They may prefer just hanging out with their friends, talking about whatever, and letting the small talk that usually precedes a night’s gaming continue for the rest of the night.

And you know what? That’s okay.

Good gamers know to acknowledge when such things are happening and just let them happen. The game will always be there next time, and you can pick it up then, refreshed and ready for adventure.

Have you ever been hit by a distraction filled evening? I’d love to hear about it. Let me know in the comments below.
